NotesEuropean Classic Touring Club www.euroclassic.club Poppy Tour
4 November 2018

The European Classic Touring Club will promote a new classic car tour on 4 November 2018. As this is the inaugural running of the event, participants are not restricted to the vehicle they can use.

The purpose of the event is to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, so all profit from the event will be donated to the Poppy Appeal.

The organisers have obtained written agreement from the Royal British Legion to use their logo on all printed matter connected with this event, including the logo on this page.

To enhance the prestigious cause, the organisers have selected a route for the participants to follow and to visit some of the best historical and productive establishments Wales has to offer.

Starting with documentation and the event start from Llangoed Hall, Brecon, the route travels north towards Builth Wells, before turning south over the perimeter of the Epynt Ranges and dropping down to the first checkpoint in the Pilgrims Tearooms at Brecon Cathedral, for a comfort break and tea/coffee.

Leaving Brecon, the route travels south, heading for the village of Penderyn and the second checkpoint in Penderyn Distillery. Participants will be allowed to purchase Penderyn Distillery’s products - but we discourage any sampling until after participants arrive home!

Once the participants are ready to leave Penderyn, they will travel over some of South Wales most prestigious heights, namely the Rhigos and Bwlch mountains. Dropping down into the famous town of Treorchy. Rhondda Radio will be on hand to do some live radio interviews, which will be broadcast on Rhondda Radio’s new FM frequency.

Coming down off Bwlch Mountain, participants will travel down the valley, turning left in Blackmill and heading towards the Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, where a warm welcome will be extended to those taking part. Here they will be able to have some refreshments, make purchases from the Royal Mint Experience gift shop and -- with special permission from the Royal Mint Experience -- we have arranged for each participant to strike their own finishers` award: a legal tender £2 coin, with an uncirculated design.

Leaving the Royal Mint, participants will head towards our capital city of Cardiff, to finish at the Roald Dahl Plass, Oval Basin in Cardiff Bay. Upon arriving at the Oval Basin, the organisers will present each participant with a special finishers` coin sleeve for their coin obtained from the Royal Mint Experience.

Participants will then be free to enjoy the surrounding area for some fine dining, enjoy the view or to make their way home.

As organisers, we would like to thank everybody for their support of the event. Entries can be obtained via our web site at www.euroclassic.club.
