Competitors gearing up for another record-breaking Silverstone Classic (20-22 July) are once again being offered the welcome opportunity to test their cars in advance… and for free!

Staged at the ‘Home of British Motor Sport’, the Silverstone Classic is the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, attracting more than 1,000 race entries. The packed programme features the full spectrum of historic motorsport, and this summer’s added highlights will include spectacular new showdowns for Masters Endurance Legends plus the return of Tin Top Sunday to celebrate 60 years of the massively popular MSA British Touring Car Championship.

All those competing in July’s extravaganza are being given the chance to fine-tune their cars and/or familiarise themselves with the full Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on Wednesday 2 May.

The curtain-raiser will include morning and afternoon test sessions, segregated into classes with an extended break at lunchtime to enable a series of event photo opportunities and other publicity-generating activities on-track.

“It’s really no surprise that the provision of a free test day on the Silverstone Grand Circuit has always been extremely popular with our competitors as it gives them a wonderful opportunity to prepare for the Classic later in the summer,” said Nick Wigley, CEO of event organiser Goose Live Events.

Understandably, the chance for free testing at Silverstone has proved highly popular in recent years and event organisers are expecting the limited number of available places to be snapped up swiftly.

Entries – strictly restricted to those competing at the Classic – will be accepted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and application forms are available via the official event website at

For the public, Early Bird tickets for the 2018 Silverstone Classic are available offering significant savings. Adult prices start at just £37 and stick to the Classic’s widely praised ‘access all areas’ policy, providing admission to both race paddocks, trackside grandstands and the live music concerts.

Full details of all tickets (which must be purchased in advance) – as well as hospitality packages and weekend festival camping – can be found on the official website.

Editor’s notes: The Silverstone Classic is firmly established as the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival. The epic event attracts more than 1,000 race entries and draws crowds of more than 100,000. The spectacular classic car celebration is staged at the famous Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire, birthplace of the FIA Formula One World Championship and home to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. The three-day festival features the very best of classic and historic motor racing, as well as live music from iconic rock bands and a wealth of family entertainment. This includes a free funfair, Shopping Village, a host of interactive experiences, a two-day classic car auction, air displays plus huge showcases of classic cars often celebrating important milestones in automotive history. In 2017, over 120 car clubs displayed more than 10,000 classic cars.

Goose Live Events: The Silverstone Classic is promoted and organised by Goose Live Events Ltd. Goose manage international events for companies such as AstraZeneca, Harley-Davidson, Bentley, Lamborghini, the Royal Automobile Club and Unilever.

Accreditation: Media accreditation is now open for both the pre-event Preview Day at Silverstone on Wednesday 2 May and the event itself in July. Those wishing to attend either – or both – can apply via the new online accreditation system.

As in previous years, media are very welcome to attend the Preview Day but the format of the day has been updated to ensure the opportunity for gathering content is maximised. Various photo calls and interviews will be available on the day, however, there will be no traditional press conference

and the day has been refocused to ensure that we maximise the presence of all these great cars to produce a portfolio of assets which can then be made widely available to media for editorial use.

Accreditation for the event Preview Day is possible online at:

Applicants should supply either proof of coverage from past Silverstone Classic events or evidence of 2018 commissions.
