|Notes||Timing is everything as Shelsley Walsh is proud to have Matthew Humphries Design Watches as timing partner for the world’s oldest motorsport venue still on it’s original course. With the very basis of speed hill climbing about timing and the design of MHD Watches being centred around futuristic automotive forms, it continues the ‘Speed History; Future Records’ embodiment to Shelsley and its heritage.|
MHD Watches will award a watch for the Best Time of Day at three Shelsley meetings in 2018; the first being on 2/3 June, when the British Hill Climb Championship cars visit for the first time this season, then at Classic Nostalgia on 28/29 July, where the theme will be `F1 through the ages’ and then on 11/12 August - the actual 113th birthday of Shelsley Walsh - when the British Hill Climb Championship really hots up between the fastest single seater cars in the UK.
With the very first Shelsley Walsh winner recording 77.6 seconds, the current hill record is 22.58 seconds, set by Martin Groves in the lightweight Gould GR55 V8, but with a host of class and type records in between, many drivers and riders are immensely proud to be able to say they have set a record at Shelsley Walsh. Indeed, it is not just motorsport that takes place at Shelsley as the National Hill Climb Cycling Championships take place at Shelsley on 28 October 2018.
Also, a selection of watches will be awarded by MHD Design to the owners of stand out cars at the hugely popular Shelsley Walsh Breakfast Clubs that take place throughout the year, the next of which is on May 13th.
Matthew Humphries of MHD Watches said, “I see Shelsley Walsh as the birth place of British motorsport and there is no better place in the UK to come see such a huge variety of modern, classic and vintage machines in one location. I find this variety of machines a great inspiration for car and watch design work.”
Toby Moody of Shelsley Walsh said, "The automotive and horological foundation of MHD Watches blends perfectly with the history of Shelsley Walsh as we go into our 113th year. MHD Watches originated in Worcestershire but has reached all corners of the globe, similar to the ever growing interest in the famous hill we have here. The watches themselves are innovative, classy and with a fresh design perspective; the range covering quartz and automatic. MHD already have watches available for sale for Midland Automobile Club members and Shelsley Walsh followers through their website.”
Shelsley Walsh has seven weekends of competition over the 2018 season - see our website for details www.shelsleywalsh.com
